We started at noon today and first had a bite from a 400 pound blue on the Abaco Prowler. In the afternoon a 450 pound blue eate the Moyes Bushmaster and Kent caught it.
In the evening we caught 6 small yellowfins a few sharks and jacks.

On our first day on Harmattan ( Ascension Island ) we pulled the hook on a 350 pound blue that had a go with the Abaco prowler from Black Bart.We also had a doubleheader of sailfish (Bonze Grimmel and Moyes BCK) but unfotunately with the same result . We caught plenty of Amberjacks and grouper for dinner at least .

We had a pretty slow season until now when it comes to marlinfishing but it seems to be true that when you have a long hard time you are saving up for something special. Well we had our special day today . Phil Riley (co owner in the Harmattan) and his friend Kevin Gardener went out with us for another day of trolling the deep. We fished the south west side of the island and around 1.30pm a massive fish hit the short left. In the distance we saw her lunging and she looked promissing. After 3 surface runs she went a bit deeper and for the last 90 minutes Kevin fought her on sunset.
Emil Ruud had to let go the leader 4 times (wiring his first marlin ever) until the fish was controlable .After 3 hours the fish was pretty finished and we brought her in.
The scalemaster said 1320 pounds
The shortlenght of the fish was 149 inches
The girth was 83 inches and a touch less on the analfin but only 19.5 inches around the tail
The fish was caught on the Black Bart abaco prowler

We started marlinfishing at noon again and had two bites on the Bonze Mogrel Dog. The first one was a 800 plus that jumped like crazy after the bite and shook the hook. 1 minute later a 450 came to the same lure and got stuck. Andy caught the fish quickly.

After a couple of quiet days we did inshore fishing for a couple of hours and went marlinfishing at noon. It was very quiet until 3.30 when a very big fish eate the Bonze Mongrel Dog.
At first she didnīt take any line but as she felt pressure she started racing off. Unfortunately she didnīt do that on the surface so it was very difficult to keep up with her. After two minutes of hard backing down over the corner we had 800 yards of line out and I was getting very worried. The angle of the line came up a bit and I had to take the chance to turn the boat. Phil Riley finally gained slowly on her.After 1 hour colin got the leader and patiently got her closer. Finally the hook pulled out of the bill.We could have gaffed her even after we pulled the hook but she turned over quickly and swam off upright.If I wouldnīt have seen the 1093 from two weeks ago I would have called that a 950+ but it was easy the size of the weighed one so I call that one 1100+
If you want to call me a liar or bullshitter fair enough but thatīs the way I saw that fish.
marlinfishing in ascension is tough but it blows my mind when it happens !

We finally managed to catch a nice one again !Peter caught his biggest fish on standup with a Fox 50/80 Standup rod on the Bonze Mongrel Dog in english bay after spending the whole morning catching tunas and dorados in the SW. The fish did some nice jumps and ran downseas wich made it fairly easy to chace her down and finally release her in good condition.

We fished in english bay again and in the afternoon it started to look very good bait everywhere some spearfish knockdowns and at 3.30 we had a nice bite on the Blackbart Abaco Prowler. The fish took a lot of line and I chaced her for 3 miles on the surface until we came close and saw her and decided to take her in. Michael fought the fish for 35 minutes until it was gaffed and secured. The final weight was 1093 pounds.

well over 800 pounds close to Boatswainbird Island but pulled the
hook after half an hour.We didn´t get a very good look at the
fish but the girth and the splashes it created were impressive. We

We caught 3 for 3 bites
today !
The first one was a 250
pounder on the RPP. An hour later a big mama came up behind the Fox
lure and after I spead the boat up two knots she eate it. Another
long fast run on the surface and forward chasing followed until Colin
finally got the leader on the totally green girl . He had a hard time
to get her under control and finally the hook bend and freed her.
This fish was big and
we called her "950" pounds !?
After that we caught
another smalish marlin on the RPP and had a bite from a sailfish.

Andy caught a 550
pounder on the Black Bart RPP that got hooked in the dorsal and gave
a very hard fight.

We had a very good day
today !
First we missed a
sailfish ,raised a couple more later and shortly after we pulled the
hook on a 350 pound Marlin that eate the DS by Bonze .

A bit later we saw a
700 tailing on the surface without taking notice of us. But then in
the afternoon Christian from Norway caught
pictures by Kit
a 200 pound blue on the
Grimmel.
In the evening he also
caught a 205 pound yellowfintuna on the behemoth.

bites and raised 1 more all fish over 500 pounds and finally caught a
350 pounder for Phil on the Grimmel.

day of fishing brought us another nice result. We caught two blues on

Much nicer weather
today and finally also marlin. First we raised a 400 pounder in the
SE and in the afternoon Heinz caught a small blue on the Bart
Superplunger in english bay !

We raised a sailfish
and caught a wahoo today .

We caught a couple of
small yellowfin and dorados inshore today. We only fished 3 hours for
marlin and saw nothing interesting except very rough seas !

Today I started fishing
with Heinz and Roland. Matthias got stuck in the canaries and will
probably arrive in the next days.
We raised a 500 pound
blue marlin on the Bonze "Grimmel" but we couldn´t
get a bite out of her. My website will be updated daily now until end
of march !

Today was our last day
for this trip and we had a good finish ! Nice calm weather and a 750
pound blue on the braziliano for Clive finished off a nice week of
fishing.
We also saw a small
mako freefeeding on a jack.

Peter caught a 300
pounder today on the blue breakfast and we raised another fish around
400 that came behind a lure faded away and 30 seconds later it jumped
twice 100 meters behind the spread not having touched anything !

marlin today on the bart superplunger and Matthias saw a big blue
crossing the spread.

Still unusually many
blue marlin here for this time of the year !
We had two bites from
blues wich were really agressive attacks but no hookups.One was
around 300 ( Hawaian breakfast) and the otherone about 600 pounds
(Bart Superplunger).Shortly after we had the bite of the 600 I saw an
enormes dorsal and tail quit far behind the spread. We had another
knockdown of a small billfish of wich I´m not certain what it
was.
The wild hooker saw 8
blue marlin of wich they had 6 in their spread and got four bites .
They caught only one
around 800 pounds. All their bites were crashbites too and they use
double hooksets with taglines compared to our long singel hooks with
a small dropback.
Both systhems have the
same results.

Today was our turn !
We caught a 200 pounder
just after leaving the pierhead on the hawaian breakfast. In the
afternoon we caught a 250 pounder on the same lure and in the evening
we hooked a better fish on the hawaian breakfast again after it
crashed the brasiliano and came off .
The 650 pounder finally
fell of the hook 1 meter from me reaching the leader but we still
enjoyed the show she put up.
The wild hooker only
raised a 300 pounder and had a couple of sailfish up ( as we had as
well by the way)

Peter and Clive arrived
today and we raised a very big blue in the evening but ...
The wild hooker had 4
bites of blues today ! The first one they pulled the hook on was
according to Oskie "a very nice one " he was not willing to
tell any size. After that they missed two rats and in the evening the
finally caught a 850 to 900 pounder .

I´ll be fishing
on Harmattan for the next weeks with Matthias Henningsen. A 1215
pound blue marlin was caught a couple of weeks ago by a new
Mothership operation.
April 2008
Today was our last day
of the season and we saw some action at last !
First Wolfgang pulled
the hook on a 400 pounder that eate the blue breakfast.
We raised a simillar
size fish two hours later but no bite.
In the afternoon
Hermann caught a 300 pounder on the blue breakfast again and in the
evening we had another bite on the chrome enki !
That was it for this
year from here. Harmattan fishes another 2 weeks.

Very different to yesterday.
We saw our first blue around
11 but no bite. After that we saw some nice feedingfrenzy of 60 pound
yellowfins and got one bite out of them . Naturally we pulled the
hook even on a tuna !Then around noon we raised another small blue
with the same result a few minutes later a decent fish jumped close
to the 22 crome enki missed it and came back .Watching the dorsal of
this potantial marlin it looked strangely round and I realised it was
a 400 pound mako that finally bit the lure.Unfortunately Manfred also
managed to get rid of this one very quickly.( Not his fault at all
just kidding !!! )
We had lots of bites of
sailfish and finally Manfred caught a 100 pound one on the hawaian
breakfast.
In the evening we saw a 200
pounder freefeeding on a dorado or rainbowrunner and we could see him
swallow his pray right next to our lures.
Then we got a bite of a 300
pounder on the Krakatao that also pulled off after 50 meters.
Harmattan caught two small blues for 5 bites and raised one more and
a sail .

We had another good day of
billfishimg .We first raised a fish around 300 pounds that didn´t
bite. A bit later we had a bite of a similar size fish on the 22
Chrome Enki but it came off 3 times. Inbetween we had two
doubleheaders of sailfish but non of them got stuck either. Than
Harry caught his first blue marlin a 250 pounder that took the crome
22 Enki.

Around noon Matthias caught
two blues within an hour (300 and 400)
An hour later we got a bit
of a 500+ on the Krakatao but unfortunately the fish shook the hook
of its bill just before we could get the leader.
A bit later we caught a 200

After a period of slow
fishing we had a good day again !
We saw way more skippies
then the last days today and at 3 pm we got a doubleheader of blue
marlin on !
I couldn´t believe it
after all these days of riding around .
One fish took the Krakatao
but just after Manfred got to the chair the fish came off.
Now it was Franz´s
time who grabed the rod with the hawaian breakfast and this 700 pound
lady stayed connected and put up a great show of jumps !

close until we released her friend. For shure we had a lure out
imidiately but no response.

the spread but faded of quickly.

Anotherone bites the hook !
On his last day Georg caught
another nice size ascension blue marlin. The 700 pounder eate the
hawaian breakfast around 1pm and was quickly caught after a surface
fight with some nice jumps.
Matthias caught 2 around 300
pounds today and had two more bites of better size fish so it looks
like there are some around now. Tommorrow nobody fishes.

Finally we had a good day
marlinfishing again !
We went out at 11 and after
half an hour a 700 pound blue crashed the Krakatao (legendlures) and
after a hard deep fight Georg finally caught his first ascension blue
!
We kept on trolling in flat
calm weather and at 1.30 pm we got another crashbite on the hawaian
breakfast (Black Bart ) George also caught this 400 pound marlin
and we finished the day with
some more yellowfins on the mooring !

Finally the wheather was
normal again and we had a decent number of marlin in the area !
First Matthias raised a nice
one around 11 we saw our first blue at 1pm but the 500+ fish was not
in the mood and stayed deep under the blue breakfast ,faded off and
came back after a turn . We tried to tease her but no chance.In the
afternoon Matthias had bite also of a nice one and pulled him off
again.
We saw one fish swimming
parallel with the boat wich never came to the spread and raised
anotherone wich almost tried to bite the Krakatao but then decided
that this would be too much work ! It´s good to see them back
here now they just have to change there behaviour !

On our mooring Henrik and

We had a long
boring day of marlinfishing today except for the last hour !!!
The wheather
was great but we saw little action in the SE . As Matthias told us he
raised a 700 in englishbay it was not difficult to turn around. On
our way Henrik caught a 50 pound wahoo but also in englishbay we saw
nothing interesting. 5 PM half asleep I finally saw what we where
looking for a nice blue behind the Short Rigger.
She didn´t
fool around and took roddys new Pro range lure (I forgot the name).
She took a lot
of line but stayed on the surface so it took Kent about half an hour
to finally release his 850 pound blue marlin.
Shy 3´s
first for this season . Not a bad start !
Matthias only
raised the above mentioned fish and ended up jigging.

Our season in
ascension started today with Kent and Henrik fishing for a week.
We trolled 7
hours around the island but only got two bites from sailfish. After
that we caught some amberjacks speedjigging.
We saw lots of
flyingfish and big skipjacks.
Matthias
pulled the hook on a 500 pound blue marlin.
The last three
days he raised another blue ,caught one sail and raised two more.

Today was our
last fishingday of this season ! We trolled inshore most of the time
and caught yellowfins,Rainbowrunners and skippies. So our final
result is 36 blue marlin from 71 bites (51%)(average of the estimated
weights 490 pounds) and raised 23 more that didn´t bite in
about 48 days marlinfishing . We also caught around 15 sailfish on
the marlinlures (not targeting them) We had two marlin defenetly
900+. I didn´t count yellowfins ,dorados, wahoos and all the
other smaller species we caught but their are lots of them. Harmattan
will fish another two weeks .They caught 29 blues so far. Thank´s
for your interest and all your replys ! I hope to see you here next

We didn´t
fish for marlin today. We caught loads of jacks on poppers and
yellowfin tuna trolling inshore. On the mooring we also caught
yellowfin and a sixgill shark

Our morning
was quiet again. At 1 pm we got or first contact with a sailfish and
it didn´t stick. We had a 400 poud blue coming up behind the
1656 angel but the fish was just to lazy to touch it. From now on we
had two more bites of blue marlin ,1 small one on the 1656 and a 600
pounder on the blue breakfast wich was the only agressive bite today.
It came from the side with an open mouth but still got the hook
around the bill and shook it off, came back and knocked it one more
time that was it. We also raised another two blues never even comming
close to the lures. Harmattan caught a 150 pound blue marlin and
pulled the hook on anotherone and also saw some sails.

We started
late today and raised one blue marlin that stayed for a minute behind
different lures but no matter what I did this thing would come closer
than 3 foot to the lures. In the evening we caught tuna,oilfish and
an 800 pound sixgill shark.

After a quiet
morning we fishing ascension s SE side we found the blue marlin in
the late afternoon in english bay. At 3 30 we caught a 250 pounder on
the 22 quickchange Baselisk.
After that we
had a couple of sailfish up and two tried to eat our gogleeye
pitchbait but didn´t get hooked. A bit Later we caught a 300
pound blue on the same lure and a quater to six we hooked a 400 pound
bluemarlin on the orange Lava Ruckus.
After some
nice jumps the fish was released quickly. Matthias caught 1 blue

Lots of
billfish around the island again.We were fishing ascension s SW and
we had lots of knockdowns from sailfish and one got hooked for a
short while . It took plenty of line on a 130 and until it jumped I
thought it was a blue just like yesterday. At two we caught a 350
pound blue marlin on the 22 quickchange Baselisk . Matthias pulled
the hook on a 300 pounder and raised anotherone.

to drive around the marlin today without getting any contacts. We
caught a nice size sailfish that took line like a marlin. It bit on
the orange Lava Ruckus from Marlin Magic.

Most of the
sailfish had gone today and there were not as many marlin as the last
3 days but we still caught a 600 pounder on the Kona Projet
(Blackbart).
Like the last
days the fish was very strong for its size and made the angler sweat
a lot.
We had one
bite of a sailfish and saw a few. Harmattan pulled the hook on a blue
marlin and a sailfish. olaf Grimkowski

Another day of
billfishaction today! We had lots of contacts to sailfish again and
around 3pm a 600 pound blue came up on the 16 Baselisk and realy
tried to eat it It grabed it but came off quickly. It still wanted it
badly and windsceenwiped behind it so I tried to drop it in her mouth
the same happend as before and the fish went to the Kona projet and
eat that . We were connected for ten minutes before the hook came off
close to the boat. Bad luck but very exiting to see.I think there was
another blue marlin in the spread at the same time. After that we
only had a few more bites of sailfish. Matthias caught a sailfish and
a 300 pound blue simultaniusly and had two more bites from small

There was
still lots of aktion in the SW of ascension fishing from 10.30 the
aktion only started at 1pm. That was when we saw the first group of
sailfish but they were behaving like yesterday and hardly showed any
interest. We raised a couple and had two knockdowns.Within the sails
we got a bite of a small blue on the Hawaian Breakfast but no hookup.
At 3.30 we hooked a 250 pounder on the 22Baselisk that put up an
amasing fight I couldn´t believe it when I saw the size of
it.The sailfish went down and at 5.30 we hooked another blue marlin
on the 22 quickchange Baselisk .The fish took loads of line so a
turned the boat on it. After another strong fight we released the 450
pounder.
I saw one more
blue cruising infront of the boat.2/3 again. Matthias caught a 300
pounder and raised anotherone.

We had a very
nice day today ! There was life everywhere in the water
dolfins,dorados,skippys,loads of sailfish and blue marlin ! We
started at 11 and we hooked a 300 pound blue marlin on the Lava Baby
Ruckus (Marlin Magic) very soon.
We caught
that one and imidiatly after the first lure was in the water a
sailfish tryed to eat it.
One hour
later we caught a 250 pounder on the hawaian breakfast. We saw
sailfish feeding on small gogleyes allmost all the time but most of
them didn´t show any interest in our lures. Half an hour after
the last marlin we raised one around 300 but it didn´t bite.We
had one more bite of a blue on the baby Ruckus but it didn´t
stick.We ended up with 2/3 blue marlin + 1 raised. We had about 5
knockdowns on sailfish and saw countless amounts of them. Matthias
caught 2/5 on blue marlin (250)and (800) and one sailfish out of x ?

We started
at 10.30 today and had a bite of a sailfish at 2 pm .We raised
another two and at 3 30 we raised a 800+ blue marlin . It showed up
behind the "large Hardhead" (Marlin Magic) for a second and
faded away.
A bit later
we caught a 300 pound blue marlin on the same lure. At five we raised
another blue arround 500 pounds. It showed its dorsal ,went away and
came back after a turn but then faded off also.

We did some
inshore fishing today and caught lots of amberjacks jigging.In the
evening we caught a sixgill and oilfish. There was lots of gogleeyes
arround so I´m hoping for some good action the next
days.Matthias raised 4 sailfish and caught dorados... inshore.

fish today but Matthias caught 1 blue marlin about 400 pounds and 2
sailfish. They saw arround 25 sails .

Shy 3
fished the Sw again and we raised a 300 pound blue marlin that didn´t
bite and had a bite of a sailfish.We raised another two sails.

We fished
the SW of ascension in the morning and saw nothing in the late
afternoon we raised a small blue on the Baselisk and got a bite from
a sailfish later. In the evening we saw the first interesting
tunafeed of this season. They were up to 100 pounds but we didn´t
get any bites.

SHY III
started fishing ascension s west at 11. At noon we got a bite of a
sailfish on the hawaian breakfast. At 2.30 a small blue attacked the
"large hard head" (marlinmagic) came off and tried the
quickchange Baselisk 22 btu didn´t get hooked either .
At 4pm a
400 pound blue marlin crashed the quickchange Baselisk and stayed
connected .It was not hooked but the hook stayed around the bill
until we had the fish on the leader. Matthias caught one about 150
pounds and raised a nice one in the morning. Olaf Grimkowski

Shy3 went
out to the east side of ascension fishing marlin lures. We saw
nothing but two enemies (wahoos) and one did some damage ( the
otherone got damaged himselfe and ended as sushi on the dinnertable).
Around noon we went to the SW and got one bite of a 300poundish blue
that got billwrapped after attaking the quickchange 22 Baselisk from
Roddy.It came off imidiatly. A bit later we had a knockdown of a
sailfish. Matthias caught 1/2 on small blues. Olaf Grimkowski

the morning fixing the steeringsystem of SHY III and started fishing
ascension s west side in the afternoon. We had a bite of a sailfish
and raised one more. Matthias caught 1 out of two small blue marlin

We fished
The SW of the island again but we didn´t see any sailfish.At 1
30 we got a bite of a small blue marlin on the ST prowler but pulled
the hook. I went to the westside and at 3 pm we caught a 250 pounder
also on the ST prowler. At 5 oclock we got a bite on Hawaian
Breakfast and the fish was on. It took a lot of line and went deep.
After one hour we got her up and a very tired fish came along the
boat. She was big and I took the measurements. As the formula said
970 pounds and the tailmeasurement was 20 inch we decided to weigh
the fish. After a lot of trouble getting the fish up the pierhead
without a crane (and ripping the gills out pulling it up) we
organized a forklift to finaly get the weight of the leftovers. The
scale showed 918 pounds.

SHY 3
started fishing in the SW of ascension arround 10am and we saw lots
of billfish again . First we caught a white marlin on the ST prowler.
10 minutes later a 600 pound blue marlin took the blue breakfast and
we fought it for 15 minutes until the hook fell of him while the fish
was slowly swimming 20 meters under the boat. After that we caught
two nice size sailfish on the hawaian breakfast. and raised at least
another 10 of them. Nearly a grand slam damn ! Matthias caught a
sailfish out of lots of bites as well.

Today
Dietmar from austria arrived and we started fishing ascension s SW
side around 11 am. We raised about 10 sailfish and had a few
knockdowns on our marlin lures but non of the "sea turts"
got stuck. At 5 pm we had an unexpected bite of an angry 750 pounder
that took the blue breakfast on the short corner. The fish stayed on
the surface and after just 10 minutes we had the fish on the leader
and released it. Matthias caught two sailfish and also fishes on the
mooring tonight.

do any big game fishing the last few days. we spend our time diving
and inshore fishing with friends. Matthias caught a few sailfish.

for 3 bites of sailfish both on the ST prowler and pulled the hook on

We first
raised a 500 pound blue marlin that didn´t bite. Than we had a
couple of sailfish up and caught one of the on the striper candy. A
bit later we caught a 350 pounder on the blue breakfast.

spend half a day marlin fishing and saw nothing the rest of the day
they spend inshore.

Today was
totally different then yesterday it was very calm and we raised a
doubleheader of sailfish in the morning. That was it.

Today was a
very very very frustrating day for us.
The best
about it is that the billfish are back in numbers again !
So we saw
11 billfish today and got 7 bites. Out of these bites 3 were
defenetly blue marlin (700,500+?) and the rest might have been
sailfish or tiny blues (wich I never saw here in numbers) so I guess
at least the big majority of them were sails. The same with the
raised fish.
It was
extremely rough today and huge swells kept my attention for quiet
some time so I´m not so shure . By the way we caught
nothing,nada,niente or f…k all. I tell you I smoked a lot of
cigarettes today !

We didn´t
fish the last two days but Harmattan pulled the hook on one yesterday
(400) and lost two (400 and 600 pounds) today.
25.02.2007
I didn´t
expect much today . It was raining all over the place and no wind
(what normally doesn´t produce much here). In addition to that
we only had time until 3 o clock pm because of Jo´s and Kurts
flight today but it was enough.
Around 9 30
it started to clear up a bit and our normal wind came back . At 10 am
a nice fish crashed the Blue Breakfast and was on .After some jumps
the fish went deep and we got her slowly up to the surface .
The 700
pounder had the leader wrapped around her mouth and was very tired
but after 10 minutes on the snooter it got back color and started
kicking its tail again .
Very happy
about the good last day result we thought our job was done but at
noon another nice one first missed the Prorange Andromeda but in the
second try she had it . Very unhappy the Lady broke the surface a
couple of times and ran away on the surface. I turned the boat and
came close pretty soon after 15 minutes we had the fish on the leader
and managed to let her go.
I estimated
her weight at around 900 pounds.
Not a bad
day in Ascension Island !
Harmattan
is still fishing and as long as we had contact they pulled the
hook on a 400 pounder and saw a 700 pounder free swimming in front of
the boat.

Today we
only saw 1 very small blue that knocked down the hawaian
Breakfast.

We had a
bite of a 500 pounder on the pro range Andromeda at 11 .

We had a
quiet morning today . We got our first knockdown at noon but the 400
pounder didn´t stick to the Hawaian Breakfast . At 3 oclock
Kurt caught a 350pounder on the same Lure. At 4.30 we had
another bite knocking down two lures but no luck. 10 minutes later we
hooked a nice one on the Andromeda (Ledgendlures) and we had a great
fight with the 850 pounder After lots of jumps and runs close to the
boat we released the fish .

We saw
nothing interesting today offshore so we caught a couple of dorados
and bottomfish for the pan.

pulled the hooks on two small blue marlin.
20.02.2007
We went out
at 12 today (Harmattan was already 1 for 3) and got the first bite of
a 400 pound blue marlin half an hour later on the Big Rock Plunger by
Bart but pulled the hook. One hour later we hooked a 500 pounder on
the Super Plunger (Bart). The fish jumped in the line of the long
rigger and got tangled up. Fortunately the fight with two rods was
just for a few seconds and than we could fight the fish normally on
the one that it was hooked on and released it.
After we
changed the topshot we caught a 90 pound sailfish on the Big Rock
Plunger.
In the
evening we caught tunas on the mooring.
Harmattan
went 2 for 5 . They caught 2 nice fish around 800 pounds and lost a
700 , a 350 and a small one.
19.02.2007
We
had our first bite at 10 am on the pro Range Merlin and pulled the
hook on the 3-400 pounder. 12.30 we caught a small blue on the
andromeda .
At
4.30 we had a crashbite on the blue breakfast but the fish missed the
lure and just grabbed the leader in front of it. The fish was 600+.
Harmattan
pulled the hook on a 600 as well.
18.02.2007
We caught a
300 pound blue marlin on the Andromeda from Ledgendlures.
In the
early afternoon we raised a fish around 500 pounds but no touch on
any of the lures. A bit later we caught a sailfish on Roddys Prorange
merlin .

17.02.2007
We had a
knockdown of a small blue in the morning. One hour later we caught a
400 pound blue marlin on the Bart Superplunger. Nothing in the
afternoon for us ; that was the time of Harmattan . They also started
with a knockdown of a small one and a bit later they called a hookup
on a nice one . 1 and a half hours later I got to see how nice
!Matthias called the fish 950+ but because it was in good condition
they released the fish !

We went out
at 8 30 and had our first fish again at 9 30 . The 200 pounder took
the Super projet and was caught quick.
The rest of
the day we raised 3 more blues (600, 400 and small) of wich two
didn´t even come close to a lure and one looked like he
couldn´t keep the speed of the boat.
In the
afternoon we caught a 70 pound sailfish also on the super projet.
Harmattan
didn´t see anything.
15.02.2007
We went out
at 9 am and had our first bite after 20 minutes .
The 600
pounder took the blue breakfast and put up a good fight with lots of
jumps.
It had a
crippled bill.
One hour
later we had a bite of a small blue on the Ginky that jumped of after
a few seconds.
In the
afternoon we had another little guy that played with the Ginky and
the super projet but it didn´t stick. I saw one more blue
tailing on the surface but it never came in the spread.
Harmattan
first pulled the hook on a small blue than caught one and in the
afternoon they caught a 800 pounder.

were too tired from the flight so we didn´t go out .

We went
inshorefishing today and caught tuna ,whahoo , dorado Jacks and loads
of grouper for a friends freezer.

caught 1 Blue around 400 pounds and raised 1 more plus 1 sailfish.

There was
still lots of marlin in the SW . We got a bite of a 400 pounder at 2
30 and pulled the hook on the Superprojet. A short while later we saw
a fish in front of the boat swimming slowly past the spread without
noticing but then around 3 30 a hungry fish found the
Superprojet and got hooked. After a strong fight we released a 700
pounder!
In the
evening we caught Tunas on the mooring and 1 800 pound sixgillshark.
Harmattan
went 1 for 2 250pounds and raised anotherone plus two raised
sailfish.

We saw 6
blue marlin today of wich 3 were sitting 10 foot behind the lure for
a few seconds and faded away and the other three tried with one
little knock to make me mad and they were suckcessfull. The biggest
of them ;800 + got billwrapped for a few seconds and shook the Ginky
of. We raised one sail also.

saw 4 blues and was lucky enough to catch one of them.

at 11 in the SW and had a quiet start.
At 2 30 we
got a bite of a blue marlin about 500 pounds that took Barts Super

took some line but came off before the gear was cleared.

Hi
everybody !
I´m
back on ascension and we did our first seatrial today !
It started
well because we caught our first blue marlin before the first line
was even in the outrigger ! It was not exactly a big one but it was
the first blue of this season that took Roddys “Ginky”.
We caught a
small yellowfin later and saw some promising birdaction in the north
east.
Harmattan
went inshorefishing and caught whahoos and tuna.
Statistics

We fished
about 25 days for marlin , had 27 bites and caught 16 blues since I
have been here .

Today was
our last fishingday of the season !
We caught a
small blue marlin in the SW in the morning . It took the Super Projet
from Black Bart.
We moved to
the SE and in the early afternoon we had a bite on the Bart
Superplunger. It was a nice fish around 700 pounds but unfortunetly
we pulled the hooks after 5 minutes.

missed two blues before we left .

did a full marlinday again and had a bite on the Super Projet (Black
Bart) but the fish didn´t get hooked.
Arround
midday we raised a fish that knocked down three lures but it never
got stuck either. There might have been a second fish involved in the
confusion but we are not shure.

We started
late today and had a knockdown of a 500 pounder on the merlin but we
never hooked it. In the evening we caught plenty of yellowfin !

We didn´t
fish the last 4 days but today we had an excellent day !
After half
an hour trolling we hooked a 600 pounder on the Hot Breakfast of
Black Bart and released it after a few minutes.
A bit later
we hooked a very nice fish on Roddys blue glas Merlin !
It put up a
great fight but after half an hour we released the 900 pounder !
In the
afternoon we saw something freefeeding on the surface but we didn´t
get a bite. Finally in the late afternoon we caught a 150pounder on
the hot Breakfast again.

had a bite of a small blue and raised a better one on a lifebait but
it didn´t bite.

We spent
the last week fishing for tuna,shark, jacks… We didn’t
do much marlinfishing and caught plenty of yellowfin and jacks a
1000pound sixgill and bottomfish.

fished for marlin on the 16th of February and caught
a 1038 pound blue marlin !!!

We fished
in the SW again and got two bites of blue marlin on the Merlin
(Ledgend Lures) but we didn´t hook the 300 pounder , neither
the 600+.
The early
afternoon was quiet except two nasty dorado attacks.
One hour
before the end of Bas charter we hooked his 10th blue this
trip
and it was
a nice one that took the hot breakfast (Black Bart) .

in the SW again and went ½ on sailfish and caught a small blue
on the iduna we also caught a dorado and a small yellowfin.

We started
in englishbay where we caught the fish yesterday but the morning was
completely dead. Arround noon we went to the SW and at 3 we get a
bite on the ascension projet.The 200 pounder was quickly caught and
released.
Half an
hour later the Iduna gets eaten and a fish of similar size comes to
the boat.

We didn´t
fish yesterday . Today we had some marlin action again !
It started
with a bite on the 1656 wich was just a knock out of the clip at
9.30. At 12.30 a nice fish grabed the bridgeteaser and once that was
gone it took Black Barts ascension projet .
We released
the 550 pounder after some nice jumps.
At two we
had another ring on the teaserdoor (abaco prowler Bart ) and the fish
switched to the Andromeda (Legend Lures).

roundtrip again and had 1 bite of a blue around 300 pounds on the
1656 from Bart Miller but we couldn´t stay connected.

We went
around the Island today .At 3 in the afternoon we were nearly at the
SE corner where a small blue came up on the Abaco prowler (our
bridgeteaser)
Ian managed
to take it out before it grabed it and the fish went strait to the
Andromeda and got hooked.

pounder put up a great show of multiple jumps and long fast surface
runs before Bas got it to the boat.
At 3.30 we
hooked a 500 pounder on the andromeda and we caught that fish quiet
quick. After that we had a couple of knockdowns of a sail or
spearfish but it never got hooked.

caught a nice 25 pound dorado and then in the afternoon we caught a
350 pound blue marlin .
A bit later
we raised a sailfish on Roddys Cupfaced Iduna but it was not able to
even pull the line out of the clip.
After that
we had a bite of a smaller blue but no hookup.

On my last
day of this season we raised two blue marlin of wich we pulled the
hook on one and one sail or spearfish.

We
(Dieter) caught a 250 pounder today
and saw one
freejumping 30 meters behind the spread !!! We had some attacks from
dorados as well.
Harmattan
had the luck to catch a grand slam today . They caught a spearfish
than a 200 pound blue marlin and finally a sailfish and missed
anotherone.
God´s
Favour raised two nice blues of wich the smaller one (500+) bit
around 7 times but it didn´t stick.

caught a 400 pounder and missed a 350 pounder in half a day today .
It looks like the fish are getting more agressive now and there is a
better chance of hooking one.

billfish today. Two of them were defenetly blue marlin one was a sail

Yesterday
we didn´t see anything interesting but God´s Favour
raised a fish that Jody called well over a 1000 pounds but the fish
didn´t bite.
The had a
bite of a 500 pounder later but couldn´t stay connected.
Today we
pulled the hooks on a marlin in the morning . I´m not shure
about the size.
In the
afternoon we caught a 200 pounder on the Andromeda and in the evening
we unfortunately broke one fish off that bit on the Enki. Maybe the
fish swam through the line?!
God´s
Favour also missed one in the evening.

morning we raised a sailfish and in the afternoon we had a bite on
Roddys
new
cupfaced Iduna but the blue pulled of after taking a bunch of line.

We started
late today and lost a 600 pounder after half an hour of trolling and
10 minutes later we hooked a 350 pounder wich we caught !!!
On the
mooring we caught some nice yellowfins arround 80 pounds and missed a
sixgill.

saw a tailing marlin while they were chumming at their mooring !

We did a
short day today because our clients are leaving and also everybody on
board has caught a bad flew that Kent must have imported from the
plane on the way here.
We still
had two bites of a 400 and a 500pound blue marlin on the enki and the
baselisk but we couldn´t stay connected .

Favour also missed a blue marlin.
We are not
fishing the next 3 days.

We had a
late start today and had a bite of a small billfish in the afternoon,
Probably a
sailfish.

evening we caught tunas and lost some sixgills.

Today we
had a bite of another decent blue marlin but it eat the teaser first
and then the Andromeda and we pulled the hook after a few seconds

Today we
did our usual inshore start and caught a strange and painfull
doubleheader.
We caught a
rainbowrunner and as I wanted to take the hooks out of it it hooked
me on the second treble hook of the lure.Ouuuutch !!!
We cut the
hook and it was too deep to pull it out so we made a little stop at
the hospital and kept on with marlinfishing but only caught a dorado.
As far as I
know Harmattan and God´s Favour didn´t see billfish
either just wahoo and dorado.

Today was
very similar to yesterday.
We didn´t
see anything interesting in a few hours trolling and decided to try
the night again.
It worked
again !
We first
caught a small fish but pulled the hook on the leader without having
seen it but I´m convinced it was a baby broadbill. Anyway we
got the next bite pretty soon but we only got a sliced bait back.
Than we
hooked a fish and it behaved very much like yesterdays and it was a
swordfish of around a hundred pounds. It had the same length but was
much slimmer then yesterdays fish.
We had two
more bites of wich one was defenetly an oilfish but the otherone
might have been another samurai !
God´s
Favour also tried for swordfish but only caught sharks.

The new
year started well for us !
We only
spent a few hours trolling with seeing nothing before we
decided to try nightfishing again later.
Squid and
Makos are a good sign for swordfish normally and the were also today
!
We only
drifted for half an hour before we got a bite on our gogleeye.
It took
about an hour to fight the fish on 50 pound standup gear and up came
a nice 160 pound broadbill swordfish.
God´s
Favour caught a sailfish and had another bite.

The last
two days very very quiet and we caught nothing special and so didn´t
god´s Favour.
Today the
year ended with some action that I will never forget !
We got a
bite of a 600 pound Makoshark and this thing went ballistic !
It jumped
three times about 30feet high and then took a lot of line.
After we
gained nearly all the line back the fish was on the surface waiting
for us.
20 feet
from the boat it bit the hooks of and came towards the boat and
attacked the hull !
That was
the first time I didn´t feel save on the flybridge with a fish
!
God´s
Favour caught a 375pound blue.

The marlin
are back in ascension !
We went 1
for 3 in half a day .
We first
had two lazy knockdowns from a 500 pounder and a 300 pounder
on the two
longs and than finally found a hungry one that crashed the short
corner.
It was on
Roddy´s big cupface prorange lure (What ever it is called)
We caught
the 700pounder quiet quick but it took a while to finally release her
with just me and the angler on board.
The rest of
the time we spend nightdrifting but only caught some squid !
God´s
Favour had a bite and raised a nice marlin.

Christmas day and had beautiful calm weather but saw nothing but

We got some
nice presents at Christmas eve !
We caught a
doubleheader yellowfins of wich the biggest one was 260 pounds !

one was around 220 pounds and we were just Christian and me on board
so Christian had to catch all of them in a row !
We also

Yesterday
we did inshorefishing and caught a couple of smaller yellowfins and

Few birds
and a big swell caused lots of greenwater around the island.

mysterybite of something very small (maybe a wahoo) in the morning

marlin but it had no dorsalfin ,long pointy pectoral fins and the
colours of a sailfish !

Hi !
I was
already thinking about the best way to describe nothing
as I saw
some birds on the horizon .
They were
feeding on babygroupers wich were brought up to the surface by some
nice Yellowfins.
We did a
couple of turns and caught the first one better then 200 pounds and
shortly after that we hooked the next one and while we were fighting
him a whaleshark came directly to the boat.
That was
quiet nice to watch.
No Marlin
today.

Today was
very similar to yesterday. We raised one late in the afternoon about
7-800lbs that did´t touch anything.
The funny
thing is 10 seconds before that I marked her on the sounder and told
jeff
“There
is a blue marlin in 20 meters” and shure enough she really came
up.
We had one
bite of a sail and raised one more.
There was
some birdaction in the evening but it is getting less every day.
Gods Favour
had a small blue in the morning and raised anotherone.

This
morning we couldn´t find any birds so we kept on going towards
the SE
On our way
we caught a 70 lbs sailfish and as we trolled over the seamount of
Pillar Bay I saw a blue marlin of about 500lbs swimming downseas next
to the boat.
After some
seconds I already wrote this fish of as not interested but he came up
on the Enky and had a go with it.We were “hooked up “ for
ten minutes before the totally damaged leader untangeled from it´s
bill.
We raised
another fish wich Jeff called 800+ but it didn´t bite .
After that
we had another bite of a sail that didn´t stick and in the late
evening we found the big schools of skippies and tunas again and
missed one 200+pound yellowfin.
God´s
Favour raised 2 sails and pulled the hooks on a small blue.

Today we
started at 10:30 and went to the south west again.
Trevor saw
1 fish between 800 and 900 lbs and yesterday he ended up with seeing
6 Blues including 3 monsters !
We also
raised a big fish around a school of big skippies and it was also
around 900 and maybe bigger ? It did not bite came up on Roddys Enky
but faded away after 20 seconds.
After that
we caught a doubleheader 200lbs yellowfins and the afternoon was
quiet.

Hi !
Today was
one of the days where you think your draging invisible lures.
Together
with gods Favour we did a tour around the island and it was pretty
much like yesterday .No interesting action anywhere except the SW but
again here it was mindblowing. Tunas ,birds and skipjacks everywhere
and they were all eating tiny little babygrouper (see picture).
We caught
one 100lbs yellowfin but saw no billfish until we had to leave early
because of Dieters and Ulis flight.God´s Favour had a “bit”
more billfishaction later on.
First they
had a bite half a mile from us from a marlin they couldn´t tell
the size because they just saw the hole in the sea and it came off.
After that
they hooked a big fish over 1000lbs faught it for one hour or so and
pulled the hook close to the boat .A little while later they raised a
blue that Trevor called “probably the biggest fish he has seen
so far” but didn´t get a bite.(I´ve had that
before)
And the
last I heared before I left the boat that they lost anotherone around
800lbs
It was
quiet for us but it was just exiting to hear what is around this rock
at the moment !

We had a
look around the island to see if somewhere else are some marlin but
we couldn´t find any live other then the one in the SW and it
was massiv again but today we were in the right place at the right
time and caught 3 tunas between 150 and 230lbs and one small one plus
some more knockdowns.

Favour missed 1 blue marlin and caught tuna also.

were in the SE and Trevor called us to the SW because he saw
the biggest feedingfrency in his life so we ran over there and saw
birds everywere . We caught a small tuna arround 60lbs and missed
some bigger ones . We were a little to late . Trevor caught 3
Yellowfins and saw 2 Granders wich he called 1200 and a beast !?
They
had one contact with the "beast" but it got tangeled in the
leader and came of. The other one didn´t bite .
I
known we will see one of these soon and I´m looking forward to

lot of action today !
First we
caught a sail on 30 . Then the big yellowfins turned up and we got 3
bites on our teasers . After that we put a small tunalure in the back
of our spread . We got one bite but pulled the hook.Then we pulled
the hook on a 200 after a few minutes. We raised a nice fish about
450 wich wasn´t to keen on our gogeleye.
After that
we got another bite on our tunalure and that one was hooked well.
After 2 hours and 15 minutes we caught the 205lbs yellowfin on 50lb
standup.Later we raised a couple sails wich didn´t come to the
bait.
Harmattan
caught 5 sails (while we were fighting our tuna) and a blue about
250.
They saw
about 20 sails and raised another small blue.

Shy is back
in action !
Today we
started at englishbay but it looked dead so we moved over to the SW
and we started getting bites from sailfish .
At three
o´clock we hooked a 300 and while clearing the gear another
fish arround 200 followed a lure but didn´tn bite.
We ended up
loosing our fish 20m from the boat.
Harmattan
went 1/2 on blues (300)(small) and also had a couple of
sailfishbites.
In the
evening we saw lot´s of bird action and I think they were the
first yellowfins !

We went 2/3
on blues today and raised anotherone that didn´t take the bait.
1 was a 250
on 30line and a 250 on 50 line-.
Harmattan
went 1/3 caught a 200 and missed a 400 and a 200.
We have no
clients for the next week so don´t expect reports until the
31st !

We fished
half a day for marlin and caught a 275lber on 30lb line.
After that
we went inshore and caught three nice wahoos on light tackle and lost
two more.
Harmattan
caught a wahoo in the morning but saw no billfish.

We started
at 12 today and caught two small blue marlin pitchbaiting.
One on 50lb
line and one on 30lb line.
In the
evening we went to the mooring and hooked up on me tunas. One about
50lb took a fly on 20lb tippet and we fought him for two hours before
the gaff rippet out and the tippet broke. Anotherone broke a 16lb rod
and finally the line also.We had some more hookups on fly but they
broke of very soon.One of these hookups was a 200lb mantaray !
Harmattan
fished inshore until 12 and broke a flyrod !
After that
they caught a marlin I think it was arround 200 and they broke this
rod as well !!

Today we
did pitchbaitfishing again and we caught two Blue Marlin of about
250lbs and the other one was a "shortbill blue" of about
200lbs.
We also
missed 3 sails.
Harmattan
caught 1 or two sails missed a couple and missed a small blue too.

downseas but it didn´t show any interest.

sailfish.The marlin was caught(like yesterday ) on Roddys "Baselisk".

6 on blue marlin today !!!
We went
back to were we saw our two fish yesterday in englishbay where nobody
normaly fishes and it started with a 450 at 10.30.We caught our
second fish about 350 at noon and half an hour later we had a
doublestrike of wich we hooked one fish about 300 but pulled him of
after a couple of minutes.Arround 3 we caught a small fish about 150
and at 5 we got the last about 175. Inbetween we had some dorados and
saw a nice whaleshark swimming together with a mantaray.
So it was a
great day and even the sea was quiet calm !

mind more of this !

We went 1/2
on blues today and we caught the rat of maybe 120 and lost a nice 600
on 80 because of me running over the line.
The fish
took a lot of line and we couldn´t gain in backing down. After
a while of chasing the fish forward I lost the line for a short time
and as I saw it again it was right under the boat in a very shallow
angle and that was it ! (Not Happy!)

went out for a couple of hours with some Guys who help us all the
time here on the island and they kicked our as .They caught a 150
blue and 1 out of 4 sails.
Not much
caught but there was a lot more action then the week before.

nearly had a doubleheader !
We hooked
(and caught) a 250 and while we bring the lures in another fish about
the same size comes on Roddy´s Zeus teaser but we couldn´t
get him to take a lure.
Harmattan
caught a 300 and raised a 400 wich bit on their teaser.

went 0/1 on lures and 0/0,5 on a livebait.
We were
ready to go back to lures and brought the bait in .I saw a marlin
following and the bait had a bitemark but then the fish never touched
the bait again and faded away.

did half a day Marlintrolling without any success except a knockdown
of something small but in the evening we had about 10 yellowfins from
50 - 80 lbs and an oilfish about 60. We lost two sixgills.

I´m
back on the island and back online now !
I fished 3
days now on shy III and we caught 1 about 400lbs
out of 3
bites of blues and raised 3 sails.
We had some
dorados and some yellowfins on the mooring.

Andromedas
last fishingday in this year. We started at 8 at the SW and 9.30 we
got a nice 600 lber on a Merlin lure.
After that
it went quiet for us and we got some dorados and a65lb wahoo .Shy
started later and went to the SE after a couple of hours in the SW
and in the afternoon the got a 600 as well wich was really strong in
the fight they had to let go the leader twice before they could stop
it.As far as I know Harmattan didn´catch anything.

Today was
very quiet Marlinwise.Harmattan had abite of a 400 and shy raised a
sailfish.We saw lots of skippies and some big Yellowfin in the SE
eating krill but not our lures.

Andromeda
raised two one about 600 and the other one was according to our
angler the same size because I never saw the fish on the truckteaser.
Shy had a
really good day and went 2/3 850 and 700 and caught a spearfish.
Harmattan
didn´t see anything.

We still
had fish arround the SE today !
It started
with Shy raising a nice blue wich didn´t bite.
A little
later they hooked a fish wich went of like crazy and moved them 2
miles.In the end the fish died on them and they had to plan it up.
After Shy boarded their fish we (Andromeda got a hookup on a 80
standup and after a couple of jumps the fish went down and also died
We had to plan it up and it gave Dennis a hiding on his standupgear .
Ones we got it on the surface we tryed to revive the fish but their
was no chance. So we decided to way our two fish because they were
dead anyways.
Shys fish
wich was hooked in the tail ended up with 635lbs

Harmattan
pulled the hooks on a600 and caught a200+ yellowfin.

The marlin
was still arround in the SE but that doesn´t mean that we had a
good day ! We started at 10 and Harmattan was also changing from
coastal to marlinfishing.At 12 they had a bite on lures and caught a
350.We were full of hope for a buisy day .Then a while later Shy
raised a small blue wich didn´t want the pitchbait. Harmattan
got abite of 200lb + Tuna but lost it .We were 2 miles west of them
chasing some yellowfins for livebait but we went closer to the others
. On our way we heard Harmattan hooking up on a live bait but the
fish threw the bait in a jump it was arround 500 ones we arrived they
got another bite on a livy but lost the 600lber again even with J
hooks.We finally got 1 livebait and it started to look real good
birds and skippies everywhere.We slowtrolled for 1 hour but were far
from home and wanted to start trolling home wth lures .So Zac brought
the bait in and I stopped the boat to make it easier. Zac undoes the
bridle and lets the fish go .In the same splitsecond I see a 400lb
blue 1meter from the transom lidup blue eating the bait as it hits
the water.
While I´m
throwing some bad words arround we put lures in the water but we
never saw the fish again.
That´s
what I call the peak of bad luck when it comes to marlinfishing.We
are really looking after our fish we even give them free food.
Well we
give it another try tommorrow but we keep our bait in the boat until
we are running!!!

Today we
saw some marlin again.
We
(Andromeda) wanted to try the SE side today and we started at 12 .But
when we went out Harmattan and Shy were already gone that way and we
went to the SW again.
At 1.3o we
got a bite of a400 lber and we stayed connected for 10 minutes before
the fish jumped all over the place and shook the hook of.
That was it
for our Marlinfishing. At 3pm Shy pulled the hooks on a 400 and a500
in 10 minutes but we were stuck in the Sw because we had to go to our
mooring in the evening.
At 4 Shy
had a bite ( Knockdown) from a fish well over 1000lb but it didn´t
stick again but at least stayed with the lure some time and gave it a
knock.
A little
later they saw a 700 tailing and Harmattan had a visit of a 500 on
their livebait but the yellowfin swam in panic under the boat and got
tangeled in the Rudder.
At night we
caught some nice bullseyes and an 80lb Oilfish but no tunas even not
on live gogleeyes.
I will Go
to the SE tommorrow and I bet the all the fish are gone or they are
in the SW but I don´t care !

I´m
afraid there is not much to report today .
We saw some
bigger Yellowfins but no sign of anything special for any of the
boats .
It changes
quick here but that also means that it can be great tommorow!!!

Today Was a
busy day !!
Andromeda
started of with raising anice sail wich didn´t bite. Than in
the afternoon we found a spot far out at the SW were a line of green
water lipped out in the sea and we got a bite of a 200lber .After
some nice action we caught this one and after a few minutes we got
the second bite of a 400lber wich pulled a few meters and came of.
Half an hour later we hooked a nice one of at least 600 and it did
some maneuvers on us .It took 600 meters of line and I nearly ran
over the line as the fish started jumping in front of the boat and
after it calmed down we brought her slowly back to the boat. 15 m
from the leader without any special movment we pulled the hooks wich
we didn´t like !!
Shy got
unlucky too !First the pulled of a 500+ fish and they had a second
fish biting their bridgeteaser.
Than in the
evening they hooked a huge fish wich was very calm in the beginnig
but than realised that it was hooked and it jumped ontoo the line and
broke off !!
Harmattan
Caught one of 450 in the same spot.
I hope the
fish stay arround for a while now.
It was
great to see all this action after the slow weeks befóre.

Today
Andromeda had its day and we caught a 600lb Blue on a tiny little
lure from Roddy and it was on 80.
In the end
of the fight the fish went nuts and nearly jumped in the cockpit but
we were lucky that it only hit the transom !
Shy saw two
tailing marlin together one was very big and the other one around 400
may be male and female in love because non of them was interested
.They also had a knockdown but don´t know what it was .
I didn´t
hear anything from Harmattan .

All the
boats did a late start today and only Andromeda and Harmattan did
marlinfishing before the night.
We had a
knockdown but didn´t see what it was.
Harmattan
was the lucky one today and caught a800lber on 80 standup.All the
boats caught lots of yellowfins at night.

started at midday and we caught 2 wahoos and jacks and an oilfish at
night.
Shy had a
good day .They caught a 700 pound blue marlin on a Hydra from Legend
Lures.
Harmattan
did coastal and nightfishing as well and got some small stuff like

Today
Andromeda saw some billfishaction again.
We had 3
bites of white marlin around 80lbs and saw two blues of wich one bit
and we lost him after quiet a while .He was about 300 lbs .
Shy did not
fish today and Harmattan missed a white marlin as well.

hours of Marlintrolling and spend the rest inshore and caught some
Groupers .Shy does a nighttrip again and had nothing until we left.
Harmattan went 1/2 on blues and caught a300 pounder on a livebait !

fish yesterday and today we did a 6 hour trip and had one miterybite
of something we never saw.
Shy and
Harmattan did inshore fishing with some nightfishing later and caught
wahoos and yellowfins so far.
Andromedas
next fishingday will be on tuesday but I´ll inform you if the
others catch something special.

Andromeda caught a 140lb yellowfin on a live skippie on the
downrigger.
Shy went
half a day inshorefishing and caught some wahoo ,Jacks and
Gallapagossharks and so did Harmattan.

We did
nightfishing today and in the afternoon we trolled a bit for marlin.
We raised a blue of about 700 but it was not interested again.
Shy had
bites of very big tunas over 200lbs but they didn´t
stick.Nightfishing we caught loads of yellowfin up to 50lbs and some
bites on big baits that might have been swordfish.We also caught a
200lb hammerhead. Shy got some bites and caught some yellowfins as
well .

Yesterday
Shy caught a white marlin and had 3 bites of broadbill and got some
small yellowfins drifting.
We
(Andromeda) pulled the hooks (again!!!) on a decent blue after
pulling a lot of line.He bit an Andromeda (Roddy Lure) We also got a
bite of a swordfish but couldn´t hook him.(We started at
midday)
Today
(11.11) Shy caught a small mako also on an Andromeda and we had some
dorados.I don`t know about Harmattan.

had a bite of a broadbill so far.

Still big
fish in Ascencion but I can´t catch them !
We went out
late and fished the south west again it was pretty quiet until we did
a far offshore tag and finally we raised a huge fish !She came up in
the middle of the spread lid up blue and moving fast but the she
turned brown and slowly fell back behind the spread and dissapeared.
The fish
was defenetly well over the 1000lbs mark and it is the fifth that
showed exactly this behavior.
After
stopping at our new mooring we caught yellowfins on light tackle some
bottomfish and had a bite of a sixgillshark but he just took the bait
and not the hooks.
Shy went
0/1 on a blue about 300 and Harmattan raised a 600.

Hello !
Today was a
bad day for us !
We new we
were low on fuel and we were soposed to fuel in the morning but it
didn´t happen. So we fished on the limit and it didn´t
work out . we lost one engine because of sucking air and tr olled
back in . Just at the droppoff we got a bite of a blue at 6 knots and
pulled the hooks. We caught a Dorado and livebaited two 30lber
yellowfins for two hours without a bite.
Shy Caught
a couple of wahoo and had a crashbite of a 400lb blue on their teaser
wich never came back.

Sorry but
we did night fishing yesterday and I stayed on board .
o we
started at two o clock and did 3 hours marlintrolling but we didn´t
see anything else then lots of skippies and small yellowfins .Then we
fished on our mooring for two hours and caught some yellowfins and a
sixgill around a 1000 lbs .After that we drifted for swordfish but
only got one bite of something wich I think was a horseeyejack.

A hole day
marlintrolling in the ruffest conditions I had so far here. We saw
skippies and a few yellowfins but couldn´t find them when we
wanted them for livebaits.We saw no marlin today but had a
doubleheader of Wahoo .

Today we
spend the whole day in the SW where we had our fish yesterday but we
couldn´t find a marlin .
But the
water looked much more alive then yesterday .
We saw lots
of skippies and loads of midsice yellowfins mostly in the afternoon.
We caught 1 about 80lb on one of Roddys new lures and a couple of
20-30pounders.
Harmattan
is checking out the mooring for nightfishing and is still out there.

Everybody !
First day
fishing first big fish but not caught !
We were
trolling around the whole island starting in English Bay around the
SE towards the SW .Nothing happend until two oclock so we decided to
go in shallow for some tunas.
We only got
one about 30lb so we went back to Marlintrolling half an hour later
we got a crashbite of a very nice Blue Marlin and it was on . It
changed direction twice in seconds and then took the fastest run I
ever heared on a 130! Suddenly the line went slack and as we brought
it in we saw that the double line was cut right at the swivel.We
think the the line got caught on the snap and broke like that!?
this fish
was defenetly one that we wanted and I would have prepared the gaffs
for it if we stayed connected.
Bad luck
but at least we know that the big ones are here again.

Hello !
Just
another workingday for us on Andromeda but there were a lot of lokals
fishing. They caught mainly yellowfin around 50 to 100 lbs .What I
found interesting was that there were some guys fishing from a small
boat just of the pierhead and they caught nice scads on feathers and
then used them as livebait.In a short time they caught a couple of
nice 50 lb Amberjacks wich I have never seen here before.
We will try
to do a bait mission tommorow night!

Everybody !
After two
weeks of hard work on Andromeda we did our first short seatrial but
we couldn´t resist the birds we saw and we put a small lure in
the water .After 20 seconds we hooked the first fish of our season !
It was a wahoo of 30 lbs.
Besides
that everything was working fine and now we start rigging our
Marlingear.
The water
looks very alive with lots of birds even on the beaches and the
lokals still catch tonnes of yellowfins up two 100 lbs. So we are
looking forward to do our first day of real fishing !
