We had another great day today thanks to captn. Vlad !
I couldnīt raise a fish until the afternoon except for one tiny thing in the morning wich wouldnīt switch. So Vlad Took the weel and it didnīt take an hour before Uli caught the first 400 pounder. The fish kept coming and the second one I pitched and caught the 250 pounder . Uli caught anotherone the same size. Vlad drove on all the fish with no problem and Kleiton wired his first 2 blue marlin. Happy days !!!

We had a tuff few days where we always arived in the spot too late we caught some wahoos and raised a sailfish ! But finally today we were in the right spot. The fleet had great fishing in San Pedro !

We started the day with a beatiful birdsnest breakoff but it all came good again. Minutes later we caught a 300 pound blue. On the eastern windline of the island we managed to catch a 350 and a 600 pounder and raised the 2 fish that didnīt eat. 8 fish in 3 days.

Today was the last day fishing on Andromeda.We saw nothing. The fishing went dead in the last days. I want to thank all my friends here in mindelo for such a great time and a fantastic season. Our highlights for this season were 10 blues in a day (only 3 boats did that this season) 8,7,6 and a few five fish days. We caught 2 trippleheaders and several doubles. The biggest one for us was around 750 pounds.Our everage is more than 2 fish a day. Unfortunately we missed nearly a month of fantastic fishing in june because we had no clients I hope that will change next season ! We have some days left for 2015 i canīt wait !

The "Andromeda" has been sold to La Onda Pesca desportiva and is now the "La Onda Andromeda" and a cape verde registered charterboat. After a long intense refit the boat is now ready for fishing the 2014 season !
We still have some days available and due to a missunderstanding even some days in april ! So if you are looking for a top boat in cape verde we have days in the topseason available.

As the other boats saw quiet some fish yesterday we came back to san pedro and today the fish liked us . we first caught a 600 pounder on the Blue Breakfast by Black Bart.
Straight after that a 350 pound blue marlin eate the Moyes large Plunger and we caught that one as well.
A while later we went further west and had a fish come up on the Moyes punisher and it eate the pitch but unfortunately pulled of after a long run.
Next we raised a double . A small fish swiped the Blue breakfast again and also came of after a long run the second fish around 400 üpounds didnīt take the lure.
In the end we had another knockdown on the Blaster. So we raised 6 fish, had 4 bites on lures and one on the pitch and raised one more .

On our first day with the rebuild Andromeda we got nothing but a wahoo of 50 pounds but the boat works great.

The final day of our season was very quiet for us Nada .There was a little excitement when Berno called his hookup of a nice one but in the end his 612 pounder was a bit smaller than Bermudas 668. Dona Pi caught a 555 and Amelia had a possible qualifier wich was not weighed I think.

We lost a 400 pound blue on a pitch today it was hooked and the line went slack so everybody thought we lost it i put the teaser back out and saw a fish crashing it and it was the fish with the hook still in his mouth it took lots of line of the teaserreel and the rod and finally dropped the teaser it did great jumps and in the last jump the hook fell out. We didnt catch it but had lots of fun. We caught a wahoo on the Black Bart RPP and raised another blue.

On my first day on the smoker we caught a 750 pound blue that unfortunately liked the Moyes Blaster a little too much as it inhaled it and on the leader we ripped something in the gills. It was bleeding very badly and died so we brought it in for the lokals.

We had one more bite on a Big Rock plunger but no hookup.

Today we had our
first day of fishing on the Andromeda after lots of work in the
boatyard.
We went out at
noon and raised 3 fish around 300 pounds and got two bites on a
pitched ballyhoo but no hookup.
2-3 blues were
caught in everage by the boats that fishedthe full day.

beginning of april the fishing is allready great here again.

We started
fishing on the 16th of may and like last year we missed the hottest
fishing of the weeks before were 4 boats had up to 38 flags flying in
one day.
We saw nothing
on our first day but a couple of other boats had up to 7 bites.
On the 17th we
went to Santo Antao and managed to catch two marlin on lures. A 400
pounder eate the Andromeda and a nice 650 got caught on the RPP from
Bart.
The conditions were flat calm and we decided to fish bait
and switch the next day. We only raised one marlin but it was a 650
again and Uli did a perfect job hooking and catching the very active
fish on 50 pound tackle.
We went back
to mindelo on the 20st and had good action in San Pedron. We caught 3
blues for 8 bites one on the Andromeda. One on the hawaian breackfast
and one on the
piper from Roddy. The 8 bites included a triple of wich we only
managed to catch one. Hendrik caught all of todays fish.
Hopefully much
more to come in the next days.

fished San Pedro again and caught 2 blues for 3 bites . The fish were
caught on Roddys 16 Baselisk prorange and were between 200 and 300
pounds.

teaseres.
We were doing
ok but couldn´t keep up with the numbers that the best boats
were doinig on lures.

was 4 /5 bites plus another 3 blues that didn´t switch to the
bait.
The last days
the swiching got worse and we put the RPP as a stinger out and the
four fish we caught the last two days with Dieter and Uli were all
caught on this lure.
We finished
fishing with Uli and Dieter and ended with 19 marlin up to 750
pounds.

Peter Döbler retired from his cape verde marlinfishing after 12
seasons with 1620 blue marlin caught including 1 weighed grander .

the Bebiche will be operated by Ferdi
There best
days this season were 14 blues caught for around 30 bites and they
did that twice already this year!!!
Les and me
arrived on the 17th of may and the fishing had just picked up again
after a slower week with just 3-5 bites per boat and day.6 to ten
releaseflags were flying on every boat each day .
We still had
to get our Andromeda ready and we did the best to be ready for the
25th when Dieter and Uli were supposed to arrive .On the 24th we were
finally ready to go and only one boat fished that day having 7
strikes in San Pedro so we were looking forward to a great
fishingtrip .
We went out
the following day together with 3 other boats and it was the first
day within weeks that two boats didn´t see a fish and we were
one of them ):
What could we
do ? We were prepared for bait and switch fishing with circle hooks
and the wheather forecast got bad as well so we decided to move to
Santo Antao wich provides calm water in its lee. Here are the results
for the first six days fishing in Santo Antao in the short version :
We raised 14
blues on Bart Superplunger, 22 quickchange Baselisk and Marlin Magic
Lava Ruckus had 6 or 7 bites on circle hooks and caught
one 200 pound
blue (with a J hook) and a
30pound
spearfish (Dieters first !)
We were all
pretty dissapointed and had to go back to Mindelo for fuel .

Dieter and Uli
decided to put some hooks on the longs and that changed our luck big
time.
Still in Santo
Antao we caught the first 300 pounder on the 16 Baselisk.
We arrived in
San Pedro and immidiatly caught another 300 pounder on the Super
Projet. We caught two more all around 300-400 pounds on the
Superprojet by Black Bart and one more on the Baselisk (Ledgendlures)
. We finally went
5/9
this day.

Today after
refueling we went strait back to San Pedro in the south of Sao
Vicente where we imidiatly had a doubleheader up of wich we caught a
350 pounder on Roddys Hydra.
The wheather
settled down and we got 7 more bites and raised 3 more blue marlin on
22 Baselisk and orange lava Ruckus.
We caught one
200 pounder on a bait, a 400 pounder on the Hawaian Breakfast and a
650 pounder on the Hydra

Today we had 3
doubleheaders of wich we only managed to catch one fish each. The
fish were all arround 300-400 pounds and were caught on the following
Lures :
2 fish Hawaian

one on the 16 Enki

Today we
managed to reach 3 "best of situations"
The first
thing was catching all three 300-350 pound fish out of a triple
header !!! One on the Big Rock plunger
, one the
16Enki and one on a WR. I had to catch my 6th blue marlin 50 standup
on Ulis Black Bart standup rod (great piece of rod)
We caught 3
blues on the Big Rock Plunger 300-400 , a 700 pounder on the Hawaian
Breakfast and one on the 16 Baselisk.

day in San Pedro
We started
with a double again and caught one of them on the 22 chrome Enki . We
caught two on the hawaian breakfast 3-400 pounds and a
700 + a

and a 300 on
the big rock plunger, a 500 pounder on the 16 Enki

Our last
fishingday of this season started with lots of pulled hooks.
The other
boats were fighting all arround us.

We finally
managed to catch 3 out of 8 bites 1 500pounder on the Big Rock
plunger, on 350 on the Enki
and our last
fish was 850+ fish
wich was
Dieters second biggest marlin out of 140 caught fish in his fishing
years. The fish took the hawaian Breakfast.

33 blues (31 on lures for 55 bites (57% hookup))and raised 74 plus
one spearfish in twelve days fishing
The fish had
an average weight around 430 pounds.

I just got a message from Dieter in Cabo Verde .
He is opening Andromedas season with Uli and
George Blänich.
The last week they caught 11 blue marlin out of 24
bites .10 fish were caught doing bait and switch and one on a lure.
They tried nightfishing as well and caught a 400
pound tigershark and a 250 pound hammerhead.

Today happened to be our last
fishingday of this season .
We fished a couple of hours on
the Noreste Bank and pulled the hooks on a small blue wich took the
Andromeda from Roddy.

We went to the Noreste Bank out
of Santo Antao but only caught a couple of wahoos. Bebiche was there
also and went ¼ on blues and caught 2 yellowfins.

and caught a spearfish on the Bart Superplunger. Happy Hooker 2 had a
bite from a 600 pounder and saw anotherone in the same range.

We had one bite in the morning
and on our way back to Mindelo we hooked a 700 pounder that Japp
fought for a long time before he pulled the hooks close to the boat.

We went 2/4 today Japp caught a
250 pounder on a pitchbait and than Chris got a 600 pounder also on a
bait. Bebiche went 3/9 and caught a Yellowfin.

Sergei was on his own today and
caught three fish a 250 on the RPP than a similar one on a
pitchbait and about 3 o clock we got a bite and we saw him jumping
wich made me prepare the gaffs !
We fought it for 2 hours before
I got the leader the first time but I couldn´t stop her. It
took another half hour before I got it the third time and
unfortunately I pulled the hooks a meter before the gaff could reach.
We estimated it around 1100
pounds !!

It calmed down a little bit so
we went back to the north and there were still plenty of fish but
they were very small and difficult to hook !
Roger caught a 150 pounder on
the Chromehead Merlin and David had one about the same size on the
Bart Superplunger. We had 6 more bites but they all came of after
pulling a bit line on their bill.

the north so everybody went to the south . David caught a 500 pounder
on a Bart Superplunger and we had 3 maybe 4 more bites.

we spend half a day in the channel of Sao Vicente but we couldn´t

some bottomfishing.

We spend most of our time
trying to catch a wahoo because our clients wanted it but on our way
to the bank of Noreste we caught two marlin around 300 pounds. We
couldn´t find any wahoos and we heared from the other boats
that the fishing went of where we were yesterday. We went back but
the bite was already over.

We went to Sao Antao today and
good action ! We caught 4 out of six bites and raised anotherone
.Most of them were teased to the boat with the Bart Super Plunger.
The fish were between 200 and 500 pounds.

We Did Bait and switch today
and the first thing we raised was a doubleheader but only one a 400
pounder switched and Thomas caught his firtst blue marlin. Later we
raised a 300 pounder on the “Baselisk” and Andreas
caught it also on standup 80 tackle .

Back in the south we had a bite
already at 8.45 on the “Super Pro Jet” from Bart but the
fish came off. Then it was quiet for us for a while . Finally we
raised one fish that didn´t switch to our rubbersquid but the
next one did and we (Peter) nearly caught it but the windonleader was
unfortunately not at the rodtip when the leader broke as we found out
in the evening on the videotape (Sorry Peter !)
Just before it happend !
We fished Lures again for the
rest of the day and had another bite on the Abaco Prowler but it also
pulled off. We wanted to go home in a pretty disappointed mood
already as we got a bite on the Long Left and while I was bringing
the other Lures in another one took the long right and we got both of
them. Peter had his 400 pounder quick and I took the hooks out while
we were backing down towards Uwes 550 pounder.
A good end made our day !

Everybody fished in the south
today and we saw a lot of action !
First we caught a doubleheader
! Uwe brought the first fish (350) on 80 pound line to the boat and
after that Peter jumped in the chair and caught the 450 pounder that
eat the “Andromeda”.
Than we missed a 300 on a
W.Range .A bit later Uwe caught a 550 pounder and it eat the
“Andromeda” again !
Later we missed two more fish
on W.Ranges. So 3/6 for us.The others :Bebiche :4/5 (1 about 750)

We fished in the north again
and we had a good day !
First Uwe caught a 700 pounder
,his biggest fish so far ,then we raised a small fish on our bridge
teaser and in the afternoon Peter caught one about 400 pounds. Both
fish were caught on the “Andromeda”(Legendlures) .

In the morning we got radio
contact to one of the other boats and they told us that
everybody is in the north again so we went straight there and as we
arrived there were a couple fish seen already . We had one knockdown
of something nobody ever saw and then we hooked a 500 pounder that
Peter caught after having a intense saltwater shower .The other boats
:Bebiche 1/3 ,Calu 2/ ,Happy Hooker 1/1 ,H.H 2 :0/1

Strong wind stopped us from
going to the north again so we tried the south but it was very quiet
there.
In the afternoon we went to the
island of Sao Antao wich has a leeside like Madeira or la gomera but
we couldn´t find anything there either. There was only one more
boat fishing ( Happy Hooker ) and they had one bite in the south.

There were still lots of fish
in the north today !
First we raised a doubleheader
trying to “Bait and switch” but it was just too rough
with white water everywere and too much rolling. The fish didn´t
switch so we decided to change to Lures.
We got 5 more bites out of wich
Peter caught a 300 pounder and Uwe got a 250 !
A wild one !!!

We didn´t fish today but
the others had some good action in the north of the island again !
5 blue marlin were caught
including one that Berno called a possible grander 111 Another 3
bites were reported.
We will be out there tomorrow
again and hope to see something similar !

We started fishing on Friday
the 22nd but had to come in early because of fuel problems.
The second day we fished in the
north of the island but only had one wahoobite on our teaser.
The other boats didn´t
have much action either so we decided to move to the island of Sao
Nicolau . We trolled there so it took us until the evening to get to
the fishinggrounds .As we arrived “Bebiche” already had
two bites from wich they caught a 450 pounder. We raised one about
350 on the Zulu from Bart but it didn´t switch.
The next day we also raised one
with the same result and Bebiche went ½ again.
Tuesday the 26th we
first raised one on the bridgeteaser . Than we missed two fish on the
“RPP” and finally caught one about 150 pounds on Roddy´s
Andromeda.
Today we spend most of our time
travelling back to Mindelo and caught a wahoo on the way .
As we arrived in the north of
Sao Vicente most of the boats already had bites or caught fish.
It was the first day for a
while that they had good action in our normal fishing grounds close
to Mindelo .
We had to go in early because
Juergen and Alex had to leave but just before going in we missed a
350 pounder wich was billrapped on the Blue Breakfast.
Until we went in 3 fish have
been caught and another 4 bites were called within the three other
boats so I hope that is the start of the topseason now !!!

Hello from Mindelo !
The "Andromeda" is
getting ready for it´s season and we
(Zak Conde, our local mate
Orlando and me)
will be taking her out on
friday for the first day fishing .
The fishing is not yet red hot
but the boats that are fishing allready see 1 Blue marlin a day in
everage.
